| Function and use | Tetracycline antibiotic. Used for the treatment of infectious diseases in pigs caused by gram-positive and negative bacteria and mycoplasma, such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Salmonellosis, Pasteurellosis, and so on. |
| Dosage and Administration | Intramuscular injection: one dose, 0.5~1ml per 10kg body weight of the pig, once a day, for 2~3 day. |
| Pharmacological Action | Tetracycline antibiotics. Doxycycline inhibits the growth and reproduction of bacteria by reversibly binding to the receptor on the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, interfering with the formation of ribosomal complexes between tRNA and mRNA, preventing peptide chain lengthening and inhibiting protein synthesis. Doxycycline inhibits both gram-positive and negative bacteria. Cross-resistance to doxycycline and hygromycin exists. |
| Cautions | (1) Use with caution in animals with severe hepatic or renal impairment. (2) Because these drugs can easily pass through the placenta and enter the milk, they are prohibited in pregnant and lactating animals. |
