The insecticidal action of diformamidine is to some extent related to its inhibition of monoamine oxidase, which is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of amine neurotransmitters in the nervous system of ticks and mites. Because of the action of diformamidine, blood-sucking arthropods are too excited to adsorb the surface of the animal and fall. The insecticidal effect of this product is slow, generally 24 hours after the use of lice, ticks can fall off from the body surface, 48 hours can make the mite from the affected skin off. A single dose can maintain the efficacy for 6 to 8 weeks, and protect the animal from the invasion of ectoparasites.
